Kick off the summer season at our garden party on Sunday, June 4 from 4:00-6:00pm. Explore the beautiful gardens and grounds of the Cushing House and enjoy champagne and hors d'oeuvres with other garden enthusiasts and museum members and friends.
The museum's garden has been restored to its mid-19th century layout. The design is based both on historic documents and a sketch done by Margaret Cushing showing the gardens as she remembered them from her childhood in the 1860s. Margaret grew up at 98 High St. and returned to the house as an adult, living there until her death at the age of 100 in 1955.
Cushing family members and their staff cared for the gardens for 150 years, filling it with fruit trees, perennials, and annuals. Today, the garden is cared for by a group of dedicated volunteers who work hard to maintain both the garden’s historical integrity and its beauty.
This event is a prelude to the museum's 38th annual garden tour, Town and County: Gardens of Old Newbury, taking place June 10 and 11. For garden tour information and tickets, click here.
Tickets: $30/person
