Music was a popular form of entertainment during the colonial era, just as it is today. Musicians played instruments like guitars, lutes, harpsichords, and jaw harps, and music filled both public spaces like taverns and private homes. Meet a colonial musician and sing along to some of his favorite tunes!
This program is part of a series of four family-friendly living history programs offered bi-monthly, April-October. These programs will engage young audiences with hands-on activities and demonstrations. Living history programs are presented by historian and reenactor Mike Welch. Welch, a former teacher, is a member of the reenacting group Glover’s Marblehead Regiment, and has presented educational programs at museums across northern New England.
