The historical narrative of women's equal suffrage in the northeast, New England and the nation has not told the entire story. Often overlooked are those strident advocates of the "Votes for Women" campaign who dwelled just a rank below the executive leadership or in Equal Franchise Leagues located away from the official headquarters or base of operations.
Come hear independent curator Kathie Motes Bennewitz talk about actions of suffragists, women and men, who crisscrossed neighborhoods canvassing for votes, delivered soapbox speeches at factories, and organized meetings, fundraisers and rallies. They came together through a shared progressive voice and strength of purpose to venture out from the parlor and onto the streets to change history for American women.
