Naomi Wade: A British Woman in 18th Century New England

Born in London, Naomi came to the Colonies looking for a new life in Boston a few years before the Revolution began. After her beloved's death, she found herself as a cook and laundress. In addition, Naomi assists the surgeon, who graciously taught her to read and encourages her interest in herbal medicine. 

A First-Person Interpreter, writer and playwright for twenty years, Jennifer Emerson's work has been seen at venues such as Mystic Seaport, Shaw Mansion, Fort Griswold Battlefield State Park, Noank Historical Society, Lafayette-Durfee House, the Jabez Smith House, the University of Maine at Presque Isle, and the 1697 Duston-Dustin Garrison House. 

Some of Jennifer’s recent notable stage roles include Mistress Hibbins in The Scarlet Letter, and as accused witch Bridget Bishop in Cry Innocent: The People Versus Bridget Bishop (both produced by History Alive, Incorporated). Jennifer also co-wrote and voiced characters for Hawthorne’s Shadow, Intramersive’s satellite-controlled walking tour of Salem developed during the 2020 pandemic for The House of the Seven Gables.

Directly descended from the Emersons of Haverhill, Massachusetts, Jennifer’s family is steeped in the violence and tragedy of Colonial New England. She holds a Bachelor of Theatre Arts, Speech and Film from Keene State University and Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Fairfield University. Jennifer currently works as a Museum Interpreter at The Witch House in Salem, Massachusetts, and is a Writer and Actress for Intramersive Media, LLC.
